The Change in Assembling Cars

Henry Ford changed how the car was manufactured with just a few simple steps. The changes weren't easy as they cost a lot of money but with that, Americans saved a ton of money and could afford a car.

The Change

The Model T finished being manufactured like the picture here but started like the one below. The Model T was the change in how the car was made because each person working was assigned to one job to do over and over again. This made production much faster therefore reducing the price of the Model T from around $900 when they started, to around $400 when they stopped being made. That made the average working American be able to purchase a car. The wages that Ford paid his workers were great as well so they put it back into the company and bought his cars which was a very tactful idea.

The Beginning

This is a picture of what production of the Model T started as. The cars were in a big room and the workers had to bring each piece of the car to the car. This was very inefficient and was the major change that Henry Ford made when he thought of the assembly line. Each person here would do multiple jobs and it just didn't work out. This was the reason that the cost of the Model T was so high to start out.

The Model A

This is a picture of a Model A assembly line and as you can see, the workers are all lined up in a row putting one or two pieces on the car and the cars are rolling down the line. It was very efficient, but the rate at which workers were quitting was not. People hate doing just one job so Henry Ford had to pay them a very high wage which was very good for the workers to keep their job. It also allowed the workers to earn enough money to buy one of their companies cars and made Henry very successful and started the very competitive and loyal part of a company.
